Man City’s Precarious Position
As the English Premier League (EPL) gets ready to resume tomorrow, Saturday 21 October, many pundits are curiously eyeing Manchester City to see whether they will rise or fall.
Last year’s treble title winners are currently sitting in third place on the EPL table with 18 points, placing them just below leaders, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal who have 20 points each.
The Citizens have a chance to work their way back up the rankings when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England tomorrow. However, if they fail, it will be their third consecutive EPL defeat in seven years and may mark the start of a worrying trend.
As fans from around the world attempt to take guesses as to the fortunes of their favourite Premier League clubs during the 2023/24 season, some experts feel that they can take a more educated approach to predicting the outcome.
Opta Sports’ supercomputer has reportedly calculated that Man City have a 74 per cent chance of winning their fourth league title by the end of the season.
However, City will still need to keep a close eye on the Gunners, who were their main competitors last season, and the Spurs, who have turned out to be the dark horse of the race.
